While looking for Orvis cargo shorts on the Goodwill website, the search came up with a new listing for six identical brand new Orvis fly rods in the original tubes, socks and with papers.  They are 7'9", 5 wt, probably for trout fishing in close quarters. 

I don't fly fish but know Orvis rods are expensive so I threw out a ridiculous $30 opening bid for the lot and then forgot about it. Apparently, trout fishermen do not shop at Goodwill because a few weeks later there was notice I had won the auction.  The lot must have a MSRP of about $1500.

I kept one rod to play around with and gave the other five away.  Benny was owed a favor for an act of kindness earlier in the year so he got two.

Do you have a display case for your tractor collection?

We don't need a mower, but the tiny front-end loader attachment for the 140 would sure be handy.

Good eating size if the water wasn't too muddy.

Close to 50 years ago, I used to fly into a little uncontrolled airport in Woodlake, California.

There was a little diner there just off the runway.

Every Friday they would serve deep-fried catfish fillets, French fries, and biscuits.

All you could eat for $5!!

The locals and a few pilots knew about it -- but it stopped a couple of years later.

They would not serve their signature fried chicken on Catfish Day -- since they used the same deep fryer -- and the chicken would end up tasting fishy.

Good times.
