This is the reel that got me started in collecting, so I'd like to share it. It's everything that ya just don't see in a reel these days. Heavy all metal construction...excellent chrome plating...and top notch fit and function. I think the Rocket was a home run for Pflueger. 8)

Cool reel Mo.  It looks like you are fishing it.  I would make it a shelf queen.  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

Nice way to start a collection, Mo! That's one purty reel and the red line is a nice accent!
Love those open face spinning reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco Cardinals)

It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!

Pretty one Mo. I just started cleaning up a few of my knuckle busters.  The chrome was good then.

Beautiful pflueger Mo! They definitely don't make em like that anymore....

Long Enuff

I grew up fishing the Rockets at the jetties in the Savannah River; trout, spot tail bass, sheep head, big black drum etc. Quality reels.  The local hardware stores even carried the worm gears and pawls for the level wind back then.

Thanks for the compliments folks! Although we always had a few old Penns on the farm...I never really saw any Pfluegers from this era until I started collecting. Now I even have some newer Pfluegers I fish with...very well made reels. After getting this Rocket it was a quest...I had the Pflueger Flu! ;) :D ;D 8)

beautiful reel Mo, yours looks like new the chrome reflection looks like a mirror

I have one Pfleuger Akron, it has a serial number 1893 so I thought it would be better on the shelf than fishing with it, its a small reel and since I got it it stays on one of the shelfs on my office, the other reel is a Bronson Green Hornet 2200

Mo, do you know when abouts the Rocket was manufactured?

Steelfish, I got a Akron too. I believe the 1893(also on mine and others I've looked at) is part of the model name/number, not a serial #.

Fishing tackle is an art form and all fish caught on the right tackle are"Gfish"!

Mo, When I see reels like this Rocket, I lose interest in aluminium frames and spools. I don`t think the latest custom jobs will last as well on the outside as they will on the inside.
Beautiful reel!
