All my DAM Quick reels have two of these washers except for my 220N. One is between the drive gear and the slide, the other between the slide and c-clip. Every schematic I've seen show only one washer between the slide and c-clip.

My question is can any harm come from using the reel without the washer between the slide and drive gear?

It will work just fine either way, Festus -- provided it is lubed with grease for proper function -- not too much, not to little..
