A few days ago I got this huge box in the mail...it was heavy...real heavy! I could hear stuff rolling around in there, lots of stuff. It was from Ted(Maxed Out on this site) so I ripped it open. Holy mother of pearl...PARTS...and I do mean a bunch of parts! There were side plates, stands, posts, gears, spools, bridges, springs, screws, handles, and nestled in the middle was a jar of smoked albacore.
I still don't have it all sorted out, but I should be able to help hook folks up with a part now! These three Long Beaches were assembled from that box, and each one is period correct, down to the last screw. In the first photo the one on the left is a '36/'37 LB 65, in the center is a '46-'48 LB 60 with "mottled" plates, and on the right is a '49/'50 LB 60. The next two pics show the front and back sides. The last photo is a close up of the mottling on the wartime LB 60. I could never thank Ted enough...his generosity has fueled my ability to collect reels when my budget said no. 8)

Yep!...he has touched many here, me included.

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Nice stuff Mo! Yes, Ted's a great guy! Too bad there were some that didn't realize that.

Pretty soon were gonna need to see a few pics of that budding collection.

Here's a pic of what I have sorted so far...all very usable stuff. I plan to spend more time on the "wanted" board here...and pass it on if anyone is in need. 8)

Ted is just that kinda guy.  Those parts went to a quality member and budding collector.
Good stuff Mo!

Great job matching up those parts and producing three beautiful reels Mo, and classics at that!

Ted is an amazing guy!  Hope to see him back here soon.

I'm just glad the priceless jar of albacore made it unscathed.

Nice job on the early long beach 65. You have come a long way in a short time comparing to when you first joined the Ohana. I never had a doubt you'd locate the correct parts for those old long beach reels....not a simple task amongst a bazillion parts all in a pile, cause they surely didn't arrive all sorted and bagged.

 Now it's Miller Time  ;)  ;)

Hee hee, I just popped the top on that Miller, and I'm about to put the fork to the Albacore. Always amazes me...2 or 3 twists of the fork and the oil all draws right back into the meat. I knew you'd dig the LB 65. Would you believe I had the tailplate? I located all the parts but I didn't know what tailplate I needed, nothing seemed close except one broken plate. I broke out Mike's book and sure enough, that was the plate needed. I rolled the dice...broke out my tiny plate stash...and I actually had it! A plain/waffle clicker! It's a special reel, I'll be puttin' that one in my Long Beach stable, thanks again buddy. 8)

This reminds me, I need a replacement waffle clicker, picture tailplate for a .ca. 1936-37 250yd LB60 w/scalloped nut, and catlin oiler knob.  Any chance you have one of those in that box of LB parts from Ted Mo?

John, the only one I have with a waffle clicker has the "Penn Reel" embossing on it. I'm not sure if that would be correct, but you are welcome to it. Message me your address if you want it.
