Saltwater flush for deep sea reels.

Just wondering if folks use salt water flushing marine products like "Salt Away" or "Starbright" concentrated solutions for their salt problems?  it seems like it would be better than just water for flushing and dissolving salt quickly.  Fairly inexpensive  and easily obtained.   Maybe apply w a spray bottle then rinse w fresh water?    Just wondering.   Thanks for any feedback.

Broadway uses the salt away on his boat. He loves the stuff.

I run Salt Away thru my outboard at the end of the season. I have used the spray on my reels but with the maintenance we do, I don't find its necessary.

I suppose if something takes a good dunking, it couldn't hurt to use it.

Big D has it correct! I swear by the stuff and use it on my reels every time I come back from a trip.  Just a light hosing with the salt away in the mixer and no shower necessary.  I would prefer to shower with them but I don't take my rods off the boat so it's the next best thing.  It also works on getting corroded parts unstuck, too.

I've been using Salt Away in a spray bottle lately. I just put the bottle in my tackle bag and squirt it on my reels at the end of a day's fishing and give it a rinse. If a hose isn't available, I just use a little bottled water. I'm not too worried about the internals, but I've found that no matter how well I rinse my reels, I still get salt deposits all caked on my line. It no longer seems to be an issue....
