Line spool storage - show me your solution

Charkbait has a whole wall of lines spool in a display shelf hanging, though it a very nice I don't have that kinda space,

How are you guys storing your line spools?  Please post pics of your solution.

I'm not gonna post a picture but mine are all on a shelf inside a cabinet.  Every time I need one I have to dig through everything on the shelf to find the one I want.  I need a better solution but like you, I have no idea where.

Most line I leave in boxes in the outer shop until needed — or line not used as much as the more common ones.

For the line used most of the time — just a set of shelves in the upstairs small shop.

Most of these spools are 3000 yards, or so — and this works OK for me.

I keep two line metering machines by Tri-Winder in the small shop — one medium duty for conventionals up to 9/0.  One HD for the larger conventional reels.

The line winders are also good for stripping off old line quickly.

I have a couple of other line winders for just spinners — but I do not like to use these because they tend to put too much pressure on a Spinner spool — particularly plastic or graphite.  So nearly 100% of the spinners are spooled up by hand — it is easier and safer.

Fred, love the simple design and the putting the spools on side is a good idea so you can see the label.

I had to table this till I was back home with some down time to accomplish this.

If you don't have alota line or room, you could flat stack your spools according to type, i.e., mono backing, or mono top-shot, etc. it'll cut down on search time. Mainly, with me, I want to see my stuff. These current-favorite lures, for example.

I have them in boxes by line weight. it is bear to dig through and find the spools I used last.

a lot of us have the same problem, just no enough room in our designated area to get everything we need in an accessible way.  I think Im overdue for a complete redesign of my garage.

I keep mine in a tote in a cool area and out of sunlight.

Mine is a cardboard box under my bench.

Mine, too, but they're triple sealed, in their original box inside a zip lock bag inside the cardboard storage box. The less light & air that gets to them the longer they'll keep their integrity. I don't get into mine a lot so access is no big deal.

I measured the spot, it is 24" high and 41" wide, I am actually going to use a pencil and a ruler to design the shelve after I measure the line spool dimension (no fancy CAD skill here).

Alan, that is a nice bench, unfortunately I have a floating table on the wall (2 layers of 3/4 ply) already and the only space I have is on the wall above my PC monitor. I like the metal shelves you have on top of the work area.

Getting all my fishing stuff organized is on top my holiday to do list.

Gregg, can't hang lures as my girls will find a way to give me a coronary.  

Unfortunately, my first love is pan fishing, and the girls and I love pan fishing, perch, bass, you name it, not to mention some ice fishing. So my line stash starts at 2 lb mono to cow tuna stuff.

I have a shelf like the one in Fred's pic, I put it together with some left over strips saved from the kitchen project few years back, It took me less than 2 minutes to build, nail gun and I was done, it has held up well.

No bait canon here but little one insisted that she keeps her barbie on the shelf

I would say that Alan's solution look more like Scotch storage with some space for line spools !!!
