I just picked up this reel to use off of a kayak.  Really nice reel.  I usually end up servicing my reels every 2-3 months because of the exposure to salt water.  I'm not sure, actually I have no idea what the above statement means.  Can somebody interpret that for this noob?  Aloha.

G'day and welcome Hootah,
A bearing sleeve sits between the spool bearings (pictured below) and evens the pressure on the inner and outer races.

Thanks.  Interesting reading.  So, having a bearing sleeve (identified as a spindle sleeve in the diagram) is a good thing.  That is good to know.  Aloha.
