what's the general opinion of grease on any other type of drag material aside from carbon fiber? I've serviced quite a few Quantum Cabo reels and every one of them has their drag stack saturated and oozing with red grease. The drag material appears to be a canvas type material similar to a stock TLD15.
Does putting grease on felt, canvas, or whatever make the same sense as greasing your carbon fiber?  I always wipe the drags dry and reinstall them.  Carbontex or HT-100, I grease 'em.

G'day Coores,
I apply a very light coat of Cal's to felt washers such as those found in many/most Shimano spinners (ie BTR6500 etc), but never grease canvas washers such as the TLD15 etc.

Thanks Justin. Is there any specific reason that grease is Not applied to the canvas? What makes carbon fiber conducive to grease application while canvas is not?  I'm asking out of pure curiosity. One would think that a greased drag is a greased drag, regardless of material because they are all performing the same action. No?

My understanding is that canvas swells and softens.
Wiser heads may have more input however.
