Saltist 4000 trouble shooting

Hello requesting advice on trouble shooting a Saltist 4000.

I am hearing a scrapping sound only at the top and bottom of the shaft movement when the oscillator changes directions. Everything else is smooth when turning the handle, just at the very top and bottom of the movement high spool position low spool.

Please let me know if anyone can point me in a direction to look for. Thanks in advance.

Do you have it apart yet?  Just spitballing:
- bent spool shaft
- small o-ring missing from osc. gear post
You really need to remove the sideplate and observe.  Let us know how you get on.
