Kaspers ! In Oakland since 1930...  crazy building huh ? A Cali only institution. Grabbed a couple of dogs there in the mid 80s and had the pleasure of meeting the original owner/ founder's son who ran the joint at the time (he was very old at that time)... I always go for the original, yellow mustard, onions, tomatoes and salt. I can still remember the sound and feel the snap of that dog when I took a bite.

Cool
I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6...

After Church today down in Fresno, we stopped by a 100+ year old hardware store to pick up some needed stuff.

Fresno Ag.

They were giving away free hotdogs, Wrangler hats, stickers, and a lot of other stuff —- plus 10% off everything across the board.

That was our lunch before hitting Trader Joe's and SaveMart.

Heat spell hitting California on the 4th and continuing for a while.

Predicted 112° in Fresno on the 4th.

Generally 20° cooler up here.

Fred can't beat a free dawg, our church used to give out 2000 every halo ween as an alternative to Halloween I was volunteered as one of the cooks...I have a big pizza spatula that I could get 10 off the grill at a time lots of burning eyes manning that grill but it was worth it seeing all the neighborhood children get to eat that sometimes go to bed hungry!

Ted we only have Sam's here their 1/4 lb Dawgs are a meal :al

BTW I boil my hotdogs.  Grilling them makes them dry and too salty.  Let's hear it for boiling verses grilling.  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

Swami805

I like them 2 ways, chili, cheese and onion in a bun or if I'm at home split them down the middle fried in a skillet then on rye bread toast with some mustard
Boiled, grilled or skillet is fine with me but to pick one I'd go on the bbq
Do what you can with that you have where you are

Schweigerts are big in MN.  But, I eat most any.

I only boil them when I don't feel like tending the grill. They get a little soggy when boiled. I only eat hot dogs around 4 or 5 times a year, though.
Love those open face spinning reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco Cardinals)

Store bought?  Hebrew National or Costco Polish dogs.
My absolute favorite, though, are moose meat jalapeno cheese dogs made by Indian Valley Meats just south of Anchorage.  We generally have about 40 lbs made each fall, and between what we eat and what we give away, we seldom have more than one or two packages left when it's time to make more.
Grilled or pan fried, sauerkraut, sauteed onions, diced tomatoes, yellow pepper rings, chili, brown mustard, a big hoagy roll ... the possibilities are endless, and delicious.  Sliced into a pasta salad, jambalaya, or even mac and cheese, it's all good.
OK. Now I'm headed out to the freezer to retrieve a package or two.
Nine of the eleven voices in my head are telling me to go fishing today.

Maters on hawt dawgs? Berling a hawt dawg? Ya'll are a bit strange. Maybe this site isn't for me after all. My BIL eats mayo onna dawg. I quit talking to him.

Wursts unt sausages are a whole nother aminal, but I like a bunn length Ball Park, Oscar, or Carolina Packer grilled or butterflied onna cast iron skillet. Nathan's are good. May grab some at the booji Pubix where opened up near us. Kraut and Dijon, or Carolina all-the-way: mustard, chili, slaw and onions.

There's Publix in NC now? That used to just be a Florida thing. I remembered seeing them in GA and I was surprised.

The "pub sub" is what they're best known for locally.
Any machine is a smoke machine if you use it wrong enough.

I haven't eaten a tube steak in over 50 years. Really. And even when I ate meat, I tried to steer clear of hot dogs...

Yep. At least four I know of, and I'd imagine Charlotte has them. And now Wegmans....booji hell. The transplants around here literally camped out the night before Wedgies opened to get a burger at a grocery store...like it was for UNC - Dook tix. They lost they dam mind. At least that kept them off the water and away from me. Just got back from the sto with kielbasa, smoked beef sausage, and bunn-length Ballparks on BOGO so I got some fam packs.

Sheridan, on point: split-griddled on rye with kraut, dijon, and melted Swiss is also on point; I typically do that with a brat or kielbasa. It's money. As a matter of fact, sir, I Do happen to have some Gray Poop-on.
