Good day All.

I picked up a couple of TSM100FS Reels recently.  I would like some info on setting up the Fighting Star.

They seem to be interesting Reels and I look forward to trying them out.

Any ideas or advice is appreciated as I can't find the Manual.

I wonder if those are the ones I forgot that the auction was ending? If so you got a pretty good deal

How I set it is turn the star all the way back then turn the dial to get the lowest drag amount I want. Then turn the star all the way forward and check that it's not too much drag. I always have to go back and forth to dial it in. It's kind of like a lever drag. A lot of people didn't like the system but I had no beef with it. I guess they were trying to eliminate the chance of over tightening the drag while fighting a fish.

A side note, if you tear them down be careful with the tiny ball bearing under the dial. That little thing has a knack for disappearing

Lolol..  like that little dog spring. The brass strip.

Thanks.  I have a Lever Drag and have yet to use it.  I can understand the perceived hassle.  Not having the unlimited drag of a star Drag.

I guess the next question is, do I set it up for max drag, on the chance that I will need it??

Thanks

I personally don't set it to max drag but that's  just me.  I usually just use my thumb for added drag if needed. Really the only time I set any reel to max drag is if I'm trying to break the line if stuck.

You may want to put the star in the middle position and then set the drag using the dial to your normal drag setting. That way you can back it off or add more. I probably should have explained it that way the first time ;D

👍. I will use it and see how it goes.  You are right, there's always my thumb if needed.

Still wish I could find the manual though.  It would be a 'nice to have'.

Thanks for your help.
