Acquired a used 310 GT2 LC and want to service it. I don't see a post for the line counter reels, but did see Alan's post for a 310 GT. Before I open it up, are there any tips or pitfalls with the line counter I should be aware of? This is my first line counter reel. Thanks in advance.

i actually haven't worked on one for a long time.  that last reel had something wrong with it.  no matter what i did, it would just not freespool well.  eventually just gave up.   :-[

Well there's nothing wrong with it, and it shows very little use, so maybe I'll just use it. Only plan on using it with a Sea Qualizer descending device. Presets on descending device are 50', 100', and 150'. Figured it would save some fishing time as I often miss my line marks when descending a fish.

Glad to hear. Just greasing the drags is likely all you will need.

You don't notice the line going out much faster when the seaquilizer reaches the set depth?
Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

No Lee I can't feel the difference, and neither can my two fishing buddies. I would think we could feel the fish release, but we can't. I'm using a 3 lb weight, and the red grouper we're releasing are probably 3 lbs or less. Could probably use 1 lb weight to descend the small grouper, but occasionally we need to release a large grouper or snapper when the season is closed.

Found a You Tube video of Dennis Kuntz at Second Chance Tackle servicing a Penn Fathom levelwind line counter if anyone needs help. I don't believe the GT2 is that much different.

My understanding is all these line counters on all these different brands of reel are made by the same company, it's just the housing that's different for different reels.
