Just got this Diawa Mini Mite 2.
The anti reverse doesn't work.
The inside is attached. Am I missing something?
I might be missing the anti reverse claw plate and cam but it's hard to tell with the diagram.

If I'm not mistaken, that anti-reverse engages the ratchet by way of a spring, and I don't see the spring.

Diagram doesn't show a spring but it's missing the anti reverse claw plate. Does that function in the same way as a spring?

It might be some sort of friction anti-reverse dog .  ABU round reels do not have a wire spring and the dog is pulled down into the ratchet by the friction created when the handle is turned.  It may be the missing claw plate rubbing against the claw that provided that friction.  The claw plate may be fairly simple to make if you had a decent drawing or photo.

One thing that's curious is the groove cut in the in the anti-reverse claw (at about the one or two o'clock position in the photo above).  The groove would be a perfect place to anchor a wire spring.  Otherwise, why would it be there?  Is there a schematic for an earlier version of this reel?  I think a person could make a functional wire spring for this reel.

Fishing without an anti-reverse is not the worst thing in the world though; it just takes a little getting used to.

The earlier version (golden Mini-Mite) has a totally different AR system, it engages at the rotor. That little reel is so over-built it can handle serious amount of pressure without stressing the gears.

Yeah, I saw (on that horrific quality schematic) that there's no spring. Like OC1 said, it sure looks like there should be one though. But if you're missing the anti reverse claw plate, well, there ya go, that's the problem.

Daiwa saved a lot of $$$ by not including a A/R spring.

The earlier versions that Nelson showed such as the gold Mini-Mite (includes metal bearing) are top quality little powerhouses.

Some of my favorite reels.  Everyone who fishes them raves about how capable and strong they are.

Hard to tell what's going on in there between your picture and that awful schematic. Can you anti-reverse out, spread out the parts and take another picture?
