New guy here

Howdy all, I'm Thor (username is a reference from one of my favorite holiday movies) from Southeast PA. I found this site while researching an old Penn reel that belonged to my dad. I'll post on that in the future. I'm retired but have fished all my life. As such, however, I've always been a duffer. It's purely just fun for me. I've read books on tactics and such but never seemed to have time to devote to becoming really good at it.

I fly fish and chuck metal with spinning gear, and I have a small boat which I take to lakes and protected saltwater areas. I love to surf fish and that is how I got here because I originally tried to learn as a 10 year old with my dads conventional surf gear but I found out spinning rods and reels were easier to wet a quality line in the surf. my dad's gone now but I have his old Penn squidder and wanted to learn more about it which brought me here.
