This is my collection of old bottle and can openers. These were most likely manufactured before 1963 when the pop-top beer cans and twist off caps on bottles were introduced. Most of these came from taverns on the Tennessee side of the TN/KY line on US Hwy 27. One day I was striper fishing the tailwaters of Melton Hill Dam and already had my limit of 2. The fish were hitting anything you threw at them. I tied one of the larger openers and cast it out  for fun to see if anything would grab it, and sure enough it got hit a couple times before I got it back in. Third or fourth cast a muskie about 15" followed it. With a little modification and a couple of split rings and treble hooks, these would catch fish when the stripers aren't particular what they strike.

at 1st sight they sure look like some old stainless steel Krocodile spoons no wonder why they caught those fish you said.

when the fish are not picky they will bite almost anything that move erratic and shine

as example my friend and Capt Juan Cook lure:
The Baja Guy

I know a fellow who only fishes ultralight and 4 lb mono. He threads about 1-1/2" of a red & white drinking straw from McDonalds onto his line and ties on a small treble hook. Above the straw he clamps on a split shot large enough to avoid sliding back into the straw. He catches as many or more fish than anyone--yellow perch, white and yellow bass, crappie, sunfish, freshwater drum, stocked rainbow trout, and anything else biting.  :fish
