I have 2 calcuttas that don`t always engage in drive by turning the handle when in free spool . Is there any part that can be replaced internally the will remedy this occurrence. The thumb bar looks like its working fine

Did you open it up and make sure the "clutch bar" is not gunned up or dirty. If not that it's usually the thump bar .... in my limited Calcutta experience.

Probably just needs a good cleaning inside.  But could be worn parts.  Try the clean first, test and see what happens.

Maybe the kick lever's not moving, or worn. Might be the lowest part down and is actuated by a gear below the main gear, when you turn the handle.
Fishing tackle is an art form and all fish caught on the right tackle are"Gfish"!

Likely just gummed up.  But, the thumb bar is usually the first thing to go on a Calcutta. Can you push the thumb bar up a tiny bit when it is already in gear? If so, then the plastic inserts that the thumb bar stainless pin(s) ride in may be worn and binding.
