A friend bought a smokers car & wants to try my ozone machine to help with the smell.I know some car dealers do it,but I read it can deteriorate some plastics & weatherstripping.Maybe an  activated charcoal cabin filter? Any ozone gurus here or experiences with ozone machines in vehicles.

We have one for deskunking the house and they do a good job.  I have no idea about ehat it does to plastics.
Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Used a couple of times. Once to remove smoke smell in a Honda Civic, and second a Saab that reeked of moth balls. It certainly helped, but didn't remove odors completely. Took about 4-6 months of sunshine and fresh air and replacing a couple of cabin filters to get rid of smells after running the ozone machine. Didn't notice any issues with plastics?

I have used this on 2 vehicles.  Mom and Dad smoked in their cars.  Wipe the inside of the car down, vacuum and set one off. Works really well.  Highly recommend. Thinking of doing the house next time I'm up north.  Bill
It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!

 There's a good one in a can...called "Ozium"

It's an aerosol in a can, and sold at auto parts stores

Great recommendations and if you put them all together I bet that car smells a-okay.
I would do a deep clean on the interior including the headliner and seats. Also as said, change the cabin air filter.
Headliner, seats, and carpet should have an extractor used on them after a heavy shampoo not with water but with something like Tuff Stuff or the like.
Then the ozone machine. Let air out for a couple days.
Lastly the ozium to make it smell lovely...  Still use it to this day.
Yep, detailed cars for years, however, I have only read about ozone machines and never used one.
From what I gather on the ozone machines -pay attention to the amount of time you leave it running and the frequency of use and the plastic should be fine.
Best of luck,
Dom
