I know I bought this a long time ago but do not member when or what it is for.

Hi, my name is Lee and I have a fishing gear problem.

I have all of the answers, yup, no, maybe.

Could be a lot of things, Lee.

Part of a walking stick, glow plug lighter, linkage for something?

It looks like another tube may slip over on the left side up against the washer, spring, and adjustable stop.

Try Google Lens image recognizer search.

To use Google Lens to recognize objects in photos, you can:
Open the Google app or the Chrome app
In the search bar, tap Google Lens
Take a photo or upload an image
Select the area you want to search
Scroll to the bottom to see your search results

The other thing is —-

If you haven't needed it in the last 3 years —- you probably won't need it in the next 3 years.  So if you toss it —- your life will remain the same —- with less clutter.

best guess is a spool/bobbin holder for guide wrapping thread.  It's a little too long for that though

Midway Tommy

Looks like it could be part of a tensioner for a line winder.
Love those open face spinning reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco Cardinals)

Two rules on the boat
1. Fish where the fish are
2. See rule #1

Keta

I put a line spool on it and if it isn't for spooling reels it sure would work.
