I am servicing my Tiagra's myself for the first time. Both of my 80's had a small copper washer inside loose (apparently from the prior servicing) along with the O ring (Part #716).  The washer (Pictured) is not on the parts diagram. I am thinking it goes on the side of the harness lug without the O ring.  Can anyone tell me where this washer goes?

Last picture looks like copper caused aluminum corrosion.

I've dismantled my Ti80W several times over the years along with my several 50 & 50Ws and my mate's Tiagras. None of them have that little copper washer. Indeed, as you say, one lug screw each side has a rubber O ring but the other screw is, or ought to be, naked. The O ring one has a little depression in the sideplate for it to sit in if I remember correctly.

However, all of the sideplate screws do have tiny washers under their heads and these can sometimes drive you crazy to ensure each screw has one and none have two, but they are stainless steel not copper.

Ditch it would be my suggestion (or keep it in a small pot in case it comes in handly for something else) because, as the gentleman above points out, it does seem to be causing corrosion where it has been.

Good luck - they are great reels!

I came to the same conclusion when I serviced the first one, but when I found the same washer in the second one I reversed course and put them back in. However, since know one can confirm it should be in there I will remove them as I can see no harm in leaving them out.

I think you are quite right to leave them out.

Funny how some 'reel repair men' operate! Like a few folks on this board, we do come across some very odd things when looking into reels others have 'serviced'.
