Just got my latest edition of the Reel News, which is the Magazine of O.R.C.A (Old Reel Collectors Association).

While ORCA is of mostly a passing interest to me, since it generally focuses on older antique reels for collectors, and I really can't afford those (I am primarily just a reel mechanic who enjoys vintage quality spinning reels that can be fished).  But it is a great organization with a lot of useful information & some great members.

However, the March magazine has a 13 page history of one of the best and strongest Penn lineup of spinning reels —- the Penn Spinfishers.

This is written by the premier historian of Penn reels, and one of our Alan Tani members —- Mike Cacioppo.

Worth checking out.  Mike knows his stuff, and his other books are like "Bibles" to the angling world.

ORCA costs $40 a year in dues —- and is well worth joining.

Got my reel news yesterday. I agree with Fred, a very detailed and informative article written by Mike.

Got my copy a couple of days ago but haven't opened it up yet. I noticed Mike has a spinning reel article (which is nice to see) in there. Looking forward to checking it out.
Love those open face spinning reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco Cardinals)

Really Fred, "...just a reel mechanic"...?

That's like saying Jack Roush is just a car mechanic.
