Newer Torium 50HG Black upgrade or not

I have seen a lot of older post regarding the upgrade for the anti reverse pawl and spring. Does the newer Torium 50HG have the same issue with the anti reverse failing or have they fixed that issue.  If not can I still get the upgraded parts still yet? This is as of year 2025.

The "upgrade" was done because people were fishing the old Toriums way beyond their intended purpose. I have never heard of the anti-reverse on them catastrophically failing when fished within the sensible capability of the reels. I wouldn't say they've so much fixed an issue as much as people have moved on to other reels that are better matched to what they're asking them to do, primarily small but powerful lever drags. How are you intending to fish the reel?

I believe that was for the old grey toriums, primarily the 16, 20&30 size. Don't know about the newer ones

I am planning to use it surf casting from shore (beach or rocks) in Hawaii.  In the past my brother gave me his 2 older torium 30 because he fished it on the boat catching smaller tuna and I guess was too much for the reel. The thing would backspin periodically and hit him on the back of his hands. I bought the upgrade pawl and spring kit when it was available and never had any problems after that.

I seem to remember reading somewhere, here or maybe BD, that the black toriums have a bigger ARB, and improved pawl, and the larger Toriums were getting 2 pawls. Hope someone on here knows for sure as I've only worked on the old silver ones.
