I have a Curado 300ej that needs bearings . I have the parts list that came in the box and it calls for a bnt 0194 ball bearings .  I measured the bearing at 1.5x5x2 mm , Yet web sites list that bearing as 3x10x4 mm .

I ordered a set of bearings 1.5x5x2 mm Smr691 -x af2 from Boca Bearings .    The bearing that I received were way to small .     I called Boca and Michael was most helpful . He measured some bearings  and came up with 3x10x4 bearings  and another bearing set that measured 1.5x5x2 .

He is sending both sets so I can choose bearings , And I will send back what I don`t need .
    That`s what I call Customer service .
The mysture will be what is the correct number for that reel bearing number ,any body else run into this problem ?

BNT0194 is a 3x10x4 bearing. A 1.5x5x2 is miniscule. What's the location of the bearing and how are you measuring it?

EDIT: SMR691 AF2 is 1x4x1.6 ???

Sounds like a spool bearing.  Shimano uses high quality NMB bearings out of the box.  If you order them from Japan, you can get them for ~$2 bought in bulk.  Domestically, they run $4-$7 depending on where you get them.  You'll need NMB part number DDR-1030ZZ.  I run NMB bearings in all of my reels, they spin amazingly well.  Better than any whiz bang fly by night bearing I've tried.  Daiwa also uses them in their factories.

OK Here is where I have to tell on my self .  I have measured , zeroed my caliper remeasured and came up with 1.5x5x2 several times .  I even sent pictures to Michael at Boca bearings  of the caliper readings .

Michael sent more bearings and said try thesis , he sent a 3x10x4 and a 1.5x5x2  .   Overnight mailed  .    The 3x10x4 matched up to what I needed .

So now I remeasured with my calipers again and now get 3x10x4 for the measurement .    :o  ???
Why did my caliper read half of the measurement .  So I googled it and sure enough I found that it can happen ,  Most likely when I used a magnet to pull the bearing out ,it was close enough to the caliper that it screwed with with it .  The other causes can be a drop on the floor or a low battery . I know it is a fresh battery.

:-[ The embarrassing part is that I failed to notice the reading  of 5 mm on the caliper and what I was looking 10 mm od bearing did not click in my head  at the time ..  Lesson learned .

Again I have to say Customer  service with Boca bearing and Michael has been top notch . I will send back the bearing that I did not need  with their return shipping label.  Thank You Joe

I recently spent a decent chunk of change on some new calipers and this time I went for a high quality analog vernier. With a bit of practice I can read them very quickly and honestly I was tired of getting poor results from cheap digital calipers.

I can say I have this Harbor freight "Pittsburgh" caliber for 9-10 years now .   This is the first time it did this .      I use it enough that I change the battery every 4-6 months.    It has served me well so far .I should get myself a analog metric caliper though .    I do have and use 3 analog Imperial calipers also  .
