Snow on 4/26 — So Sorting Parts

Typically, for the past 50+ years, the Trout Fishing Season opens on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas on the last Saturday in April.  That is today.

Where we live, on the West side, it is open year around.

And 9 out of 10 times —- the weather is lousy for some reason.

Today is no exception —- snowing on both sides of the Sierras.

Was scheduled to service the truck, car, lawnmower, weed-eaters, and both generators today.  But next week will be a better time to do those maintenance chores.

Instead, up at 06:00, and decided to sort reel parts.  The main shop bins are chock full, as are the bins in the outer shops, and there were still 3 crates of DQ parts to sort.

So far his morning, I have most of the extra DQ 265 Microlite reel parts sorted, fairly well.

I guess it is time to build out a few of the vintage 265 Microlites.  Have plenty of new spools, frames, sideplates, rotors, plus a ton of all of the necessary small parts.  These are tremendously capable little powerhouse reels.

After 12 days of nice weather it turned to cold rain just in time for my replacement bees to arrive. The bees are in my shop waiting on the weather and I am packing for a 5/12-5/15 BFT trip.

I just started my worm bed backup with black cow manure,4 boxes
Of big reds oatmeal& crushed egg shells,80 degrees here already...

The best honey I ever had was Tupelo & I met a bee keeper told me Sourwood is even better.I am not sure if it's a local thing
Or not,but the former comes from Tupelo or black gum trees.
I have no idea just the messenger,but Tupelo honey is great!

Unadulterated honey from almost any nectar source is far better than the garbage the sell in stores.

I bought some local honey in a jar for $20. Almost tasteless. I will look for a different supplier.

I was happy to see my apple tree was covered with bees doing their thing yesterday. Now if I can block whoever it was that stole all my apples last fall. Went down with my picker pole one morning and there wasn't a single apple on the tree or on the ground. Someone had come in and stripped the tree. The tree is close to the road so the locals think it's ok to poach them I guess. I got to taste one the day before, lol.

The honey was most likely cut with corn syrup.

Looked like an arrow was shot thru the cat, but on further examination, it must be a plug in for a heated bed.
