Sardine Sandwiches May 29, 2025

I've been wanting to TRY a Sardine Sandwich for some time, and was with Dominick today, and asked if TODAY is the day we can enjoy a Sardine Sandwich.  He obliged!!!!

3 ingredients:

2 cans of Tiny Tots - Brisling Sardines

Asigio Cheese, thin slices

1 raw onion, thinly sliced.

Sweet Baguette bread loaf













Lunch is served!!!!!



If you haven't tried one, DON'T KNOCK IT!!!

Delicious for sure!!!!!

Sounds and looks good except for all those raw onions. That's where I would need a couple of those cold beers.  :d

That looks great! I used to make penrose sausage/pickle samiches on toast with yellow mustard.It may sound gross to some, but it was great as well.If you never had smoked kippers
I like them even better than sardines & are worth trying.Your sardine sandwich definitely would go good with a cold one :d

Hey Fish breath that looks yummy.  What I wouldn't give for some real bread like that. The bread available here is cardboard dust with different labels so they can claim there is a difference.
I woke today and suddenly nothing happened.

I dont know, before opening the thread while reading the tittle I was expecting to see some big and meaty tomatoes slices, virgin Olive oil, Balsamic vinegar, fresh olives and bit more of European food magic

This was Dominick's own family recipe, we will have to see his response on WHY such a simple & few ingredients for a sandwich.

My thought, is SIMPILITY... is the answer.

Back in April 2021, Dominick made for us Muffuletta & Italian Gasoline Station Sandwiches

AND Man o'man, were they great!!!!

I still need to post the food we enjoyed during our Loreto fishing trip.  Each day's lunch was a quart of Triggerfish Ceviche.

Alex, fish, ripe cheese (asiago) and pungent onions on good crusty bread is all the flavor needed. However, it can be used as a base and add other flavors, but it won't be the same.  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

Well, I knew there was a good reason.

The base for any Italian food is bread and cheese + wine

Well. Baguette Boy, I'm stuck like a rock in a hard place working on my money pit daily. I am going to take a peek at my Whaler tomorrow to get ready for the halibut bite going on.

I'll have my son up for my birthday in September, maybe I can get him to locate some.
