Joe didn't even need to be on the same boat as me to out-fish me.  8)

That's a big red snapper.  Fishery management must be working.

Hopefully it`s working , the average size coming over the rail was 22 inches . 16 inches is the minimum here . The 2 biggest ones were 31 and 34 and change .   16 fisherman on board and the boat limited out .

Maybe not quite as last minute of a decision, but I'm going again this Friday to try out the full(ish) moon. 2 more spots left on the boat

Alright! No punkin'-out on a charter trip. I plunked-out yesterday AM on a yak trip 'cause it was raining when I woke-up. Only good thing about that was nobody was depending on me to show.

This is my third attempt to write this post. I keep getting derailed and when I come back later what I wrote was erased. But I digress.

This was a wild trip. The 4-10' waves had about half the people on board stuck in the galley or on benches the whole trip. I saw some pretty big waves throw some folks  clear off the benches.  60 on the boat I never saw more than a dozen on the rail on my side at a time. I've never seen so many people throwing up at one time in one place (back of the boat). At one point I went in and gave away all my zofran that I had brought with me. That seemed to save a few people. A few people who have heard that story have asked why I didn't auction it off, but I just imagined how miserable those folks were, and i thought of how much they paid to be that miserable. I couldn't bring myself to profit from that. I stayed in the rail the whole time except when I was eating. And never re-tasted my meals. But I did feel kinda queasy on the way back in. I think the other side had more people trying, but it seemed like the way the weather had the boat swinging around the anchor, my side was getting the action the other side was seeing... Well. A few grunts. Case and point, Joe ALWAYS outfishes me. He's just better at it. But he left empty handed I left with 10 snappers. I also lost count of how many undersized grouper and amberjacks I threw back. But then I did find a penny heads up behind my car in the parking garage. Yeah I brought it with me.

I heard a few regulars grumbling at the business of spending 40 minutes to get situated on the spot only to see half the boat get any fish is not abnormal for that particular captain the only other time I rode with him he definitely took his dear sweet time micro-adjusting but he put us on a ton of fish last time so nobody was complaining then.

Also wore my new shirt. I thought it was cool.

I ate grilled yellowtail and vermilion snapper tonight. I think our yellowtail are different from the fish you west coasters know by that name. But these were delicious.

Disclaimer: I do not advise giving prescription meds to folks without a script. That could have gone horribly wrong and in retrospect I feel dumb for doing it. I just saw people suffering and wanted to help.

Really nice shirt, that's for sure.

But how and where did you come up with Zofran?  Wife's pregnancy?  The data sheets talk about all sorts of nausea, but don't mention anything about sea sickness.

Gfish

It's a prescription only drug, right? Never thought of that; Zofran for prevention.

It's an anti-nausea med. And that makes more sense as I think about it. I was still a bit queasy if I let the horizon drop out of sight for too long, but I never felt like I was gonna lose it. I may have to add some bonide in there next time.

It's funny. On the way out I was too excited to feel anything negative. In fact I commented a few times that the rough ride made the usually very dull ride out way more interesting.

I don't know if I made it clear, but I had a ton of fun. Not sure the rest of the boat did, but I sure as heck had a blast.

Talking to Joe, he said it wasn't rough enough to qualify as what you west coasters call "sporty", and if so, holy crap. Y'all go out in worse than that?
