Having lurked on the site for a long time, I'm very pleased to be here.
Am looking forward to learning more about reels.

Ever interested in shore fishing, I'm slanted toward the "conventional" reels, though we Brits commonly call 'em  multipliers.

I don't actually collect reels, though  I do like taking apart those of friends.

Hi, I only do a bit of shore fishing these days, on the Holderness coast mainly....though the steep muddy cliffs are precarious "get-downs_

And the fishing is very much a seasonal thing.  The Cod is the main winter specie, and these are preceded by the Whiting run.  Flatties and the odd Bass as well as bait-robbing crabs hang around from Spring to mid Autumn but they're rarely fished for, deliberately, except in very specific marks.

Fresh bait is getting ever more pricey, I was never any good at gathering it.

Still n'all, I enjoy being on the beach, feeling the anticipation..I'm enjoying the wealth of info on this site....some of the fishing yarns leave me envious.

Thanks LOSS, its always interesting, how & what people on the other side of the world fish and what species there targeting at certain times of the year.
      We in Western Australia, fishing from the sure, about March, we catch a lot of hearing, & the Atlantic salmon are after them, the Salmon swim in schools from Tasmania across the South coast of  Australia that is about 3,000 miles,to the southern tip of the West coast, then head North, looking for rivers to spawn in, sometime as far North as the Murchison river @ Kalbarrie, approximately 600 miles North of cape Luewin, & the larger fish are chasing the, lots of sharks, we also get whiting Taylor, mullaway that are also silver king fish, further North we get a lot of black king fish, they call them dew fish, also we get snapper all along both coasts, coast, & from November threw to April may there is a lot of blue manner crabs, or blue swimmer crabs, as there named now days, keep well cheers Don.

It's even got its own resident population of Peregrine falcons....must have quite an effect on the local pigeons.
