So I normally transport in a bag but misplaced it and ended up knocking it off my tailgate onto a concrete driveway while unloading gear. I dinged the spool rim pretty good and it Has a pretty sharp edges.

I've knocked the roughness down a bit with 1000 grit but was wondering what to do from here?  Maybe fill a little with black epoxy and continue to sand down?  I really like this reel.

Alternatively I was thinking of getting a new spool. It not the latest model Gosa. I bought it on close out in 2020 so I think it's the '14 generation?  Can I use the current generation spools on it?  What about the spool for the 14k?  Anyone have a source?

Thank you for any and all help!

It looks to be dinged on the face of the spool , not were the line would come off the spool .  Black nail polish in layers ,or magic marker to make it look pretty again .

Q-tip it to see if Joe is right (rub a q-tip around the bottom of the rim and look for fibers left behind. That'll tell you a lot about what it'll do to line.

Thank you.

Did the q tip trick and it seems ok when I kept it on the interior bevel of spool. I did find a shade of nail polish that seems pretty close so I'll put that on there to protect the raw aluminum at least. Here is a pic to show an angle from closer to the spool. From there looks ok.

On the 2nd part of the question from above. Does anyone know if those newer model spools (and what size) would fit?  I have been thinking about getting one for a while even before this.

Thanks again!

Agree with O.M Joe, looks like it should be ok as long as there's lotsa line on it. Permanent marker in my experience is temporary for saltwater use, but you should cover it with something to prevent saltwater intrusion past the anodizing of the aluminum.

You can get a can of "pure" oxygen at walgreens. Clean the surface super well and put it in the a jar for a week, and blast a bunch of the air out with O2. You won't get it perfect but you'll at least massively increase the oxygen percentage of the container, depending how you do it. Let it sit for a week or so. The goal is to Air-anodize the scratched portion before addressing the color match, and you will have done a lot to protect from corrosion.

You should be able to find extra spools on the e bay .

Thank you for all the advice. I think I'm going to get a spare spool (ty boon - ordered) and use that one for popping for yft and put the damaged one (after I do the o2 trick plus a little sealing) with metered braid for shallower jigging.

Thanks again for all of the advice!
