I got my 80# Wahoo last week on the 13 on a Magtrak!
When I was your age Pluto was a planet!

natch!

I was on the trip with Mark, and got one on a hot pink Rapala X-Rap 40 trolled tight in the port corner. Alas, mine was not 80 pounds.

Good piece, and it was good that you recommended a non-Penn or Rapala lure, the Nomad DTX 220 HD. But I'm still having problems with my Rapala Sarda. Even when rigged as you recommended, I couldn't get it to run at all...

Sorry to hear that about your experience with the Sarda, I will definitely let the product people know.
Of note: PENN does not currently make any lures, though they did have a few some years in the past.

Its hard to beat an X-Rap40 on heavily-pressured wahoo, especially if you dare to troll it without wire.
The main drawback is that if there are a lot of tuna in the area, you will stop the boat for them fairly often.

Of course!
That would be awesome; a super-light passenger load on a boat the size of the Shogun will be an amazing experience.

Thanks! Now I've gotta explain this one to my wife. It's probably gonna go something like, "well, honey,  I spent all of this money on gear. I really should get some use out of it...".
