I got my 80# Wahoo last week on the 13 on a Magtrak!
When I was your age Pluto was a planet!

natch!

I was on the trip with Mark, and got one on a hot pink Rapala X-Rap 40 trolled tight in the port corner. Alas, mine was not 80 pounds.

Good piece, and it was good that you recommended a non-Penn or Rapala lure, the Nomad DTX 220 HD. But I'm still having problems with my Rapala Sarda. Even when rigged as you recommended, I couldn't get it to run at all...

Sorry to hear that about your experience with the Sarda, I will definitely let the product people know.
Of note: PENN does not currently make any lures, though they did have a few some years in the past.

Its hard to beat an X-Rap40 on heavily-pressured wahoo, especially if you dare to troll it without wire.
The main drawback is that if there are a lot of tuna in the area, you will stop the boat for them fairly often.

Of course!
That would be awesome; a super-light passenger load on a boat the size of the Shogun will be an amazing experience.

Thanks! Now I've gotta explain this one to my wife. It's probably gonna go something like, "well, honey,  I spent all of this money on gear. I really should get some use out of it...".

well, there's gonna be hell to pay around the old homestead.  i told the wife that i want to go on the shogun trip in a few weeks.  her response?

"fine...". :fish

i sent in a check this morning.  i'm going fishing!!!!

I took the response "fine" to AI.  Here is a portion of the response.

😐 It means "fine" (Neutral): In a truly neutral context (like "How was the movie?" "Fine."), it could mean everything is genuinely okay, acceptable, or average. No deep meaning, just an answer.

😠 It means "I am NOT fine, but I don't want to talk about it." This is often the most common interpretation in a relationship, especially when delivered flatly or with a slightly curt tone. It often signals that she is upset, annoyed, or frustrated, but is either avoiding confrontation or waiting for you to notice the real issue.

😒 It means "This is acceptable, but I'm not thrilled." If you've offered a suggestion (e.g., for dinner or a weekend activity), "fine" can mean she'll go along with it, but it wasn't her top choice.

⚠️ It means "The discussion is over." Sometimes, "fine" is used as a full stop to end a conversation or a mild disagreement, signaling that she has conceded the point or just wants to move on.

Keep the gun safe locked.   ;D   Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

i also bought three of the rapala pink 40's that steve mentioned.  it's going to be nice to just have to prep for me and not 20 other guys.

been going through stuff.  the jig bag is down from 15 pounds to 13 pounds.  the tackle bag still has rigging and crimping stuff, and tips the scale at 40 pounds.  going through reels now.  the rods have already been cleaned and sprayed with corrosion x.  i've gotta see if everything will fit in the toyota camry.  i'm thinking it might. :fish
