Hey guys,

I am curious - did DAM ever offer plastic/bakelite spool cases for holding extra spools like Mitchell and ABU? Never seen one.

I do have a spool case as you say but clear for dam 285 ,330 . I think I have another black  but can't find it now

Like This?

The Mitchell spool cases are better.  Mitchell are threaded rather than friction fit like the DAM and ABU.

Neat!  Until I saw that posting I had never seen a case for DAM spools.  One thing I do like is many of my DAMS appeared to have come with cork half moon inserts to act as backfill for the spool to use less line.  I have never seen that on any of my Mitchell's but that doesn't mean they never did it as well. - john

I had one like quang described, but it came with a NIB(new in box) reel.
The best one I have is an old aluminum MG 300(late 40's or more likely early 50's). Anodized black on the outside.
Fishing tackle is an art form and all fish caught on the right tackle are"Gfish"!

Mitchell made some blue plastic for similar function , I would rather use shallow spool than that

The Mitchel 314 I had xame with a shallow spool and a deep spool.

D-A-M used spool cases on some of their reel spools in the 50's.

I have only seen them for the 280/285 Finessas, 238, 248, and 240/245 Juniors.

Black, grey, clear, red.

Mitchell produced spool cases, as did ABU also.

Some of the earliest Mitchell spool cases were metal, with a threaded metal cap.  Sort of reminds me of the old 35mm metal film canisters.

Great pics! Was thinking about ways to keep my 220 and 220n spools from getting mixed up. But that is putting cart way before the horse. Need to get the reels fixed first!
