Good morning all. And thank you Alan, for allowing me to join this forum. Firstly, I am Irish, based in Switzerland and have been fishing since I was a toddler having learned from Father, Grandfather and uncles. I primarily fly fish for trout but I also like to spin for Sea Bass, similar to your stripers, just a lot smaller.

About three years ago, I restored an old Penn 77, I think it was a 77. I watched 2nd Chance Tackle and learned a lot. I found this forum after doing a search on a Vintage DAM Quick 330. Over the last month, I have bought about 16 reels, Mitchell 300, 330, 400, 408 icluding a mint boxed 300 Pro and a 300 S. The Mitchells are very easy to strip including the bail arms, some of which needed to be reset and I`m glad to say, it was a super feeling to watch them function properly. To be fair, most of the reels were well looked after, needing just a good clean and some new grease. The DAMS (Quick 3000, 330)and the ABU Cardinals 66,55, and 57) are above my pay grade: I am restricted to removing the Main Gear, drive shaft etc, but I dont want to mess around with the Drag nor the Rotor cups as they all function well.

Flyfishing and flytying are my first love but there is something to be said about rescuing vintage reels. They feel better in the hand, that bit of heft gives one some confidence. Watching them function after a good clean and service is very satisfying. Thanks to Google I found this forum and as I explained to Alan, I don`have the experience nor knowledge to provide any meaningful help, but I will be picking your brains and as a newbie, and now a passionate reel restorer.  Looking forward to learning from you all

Some of my reels and I have an awful feeling that this new hobby could become highly addictive

Welcome.  Dominick, San Mateo, California.
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.
