Hi Guys,

Anyone have experience using a the drill press accessory with a Dremel? The newer 220 looks like it will fit my 400 tool, but I also see the older 210 press which looks simpler and maybe more solid.  I'm inclined to try the 210 but am not sure about the fit. I saw in a video that the 220 has some play, so not very precise.

Some tasks I'd like do:
  • Drill out Penn clicker rivets on tail plates
  • Drill out knob shafts on handles
  • Drill slots inside main gears
  • Remove bakelite material from side plates for double-dogging
  • Precise drilling of bridge plates for double-dogging

Basically I want to improve on my freehand use of the tool. My space is very limited, so I don't want to buy a real drill press.  Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
/Joe

If you find a solution then I want one too Joe.  I tried a Dremel press but still fought to keep the bit going straight.  Then I invested in a German made desktop vertical milling machine and a Taig lathe.  Still couldn't drill a straight hole.  I relented and took up another hobby.

Oh,...... but centering drill bits (spotting bits) help a lot.  For example "60 degree high speed drill and countersink 1/8 inch"

I do not have the drill press attachment.    I do use dremel free hand and know the little slop it has .   The bitt has to be sharp and go slow , let the bitt do the work .  With the press there is probably  more slop , so go slow , and you will find what the tool can and can not do .

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.   Alto Mare

I have a old drill press that can drill fairly straight ,can use very small bit with attachment . I think it work better than Dremel
