Well first of all about this reel by mistake blinded by the low price I thought was bidding on a 2200 II.

It was stiff & the A/R didn't work until I cranked the reel several times & worked the lever back & forth.I opened It up to find the most grease I have ever seen in any reel.

Then the trouble came I went to remove the bail nut-SNAP! I think a diesel mechanic tightened the nut, used lock tight,or it was cross threaded? It is a nice looking reel & I had big hopes for it, now on the hunt for a bail.

My father use to pack his Mitchell 300 & 304 reels like that with vasoline and that first picture looks eerily similar to grease mess that I cleaned out of my brother's reel my dad gave him.

Ouch on the bail. Its possible an experienced machinist could repair the bail, if you can't find a replacement. Probably expensive.

I found a rotor/bail for a 2210 hopefully it will work

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.   Alto Mare

After a closer look the rotor/bail/springs the 2210 & 2210 II have different designs.

I slept on it & discovered a DQ 285 bail nut(5 mm) will grab the broken bail screw stud. The Shakes nut was 7 mm for the same 2.5mm stud? I will look at ACE for lock nuts
but I am still looking for a 2210 II bail.I may even see if the 285 bail will work it looks like it may.

One thing I thought about after the fact,is it possible that when I removed the original nut the socket grabbed onto the lock washer causing the stud to break when I turned it counterclockwise? I did not attempt the DQ 285 bail install.

Well I got it back together & other than the bail fopa It is one of the smoothest reels I ever seen ! The ball bearings are huge, only a video would do  justice of the spin factor, the design of the 2210 II has made me a fan !

Update:The nut didn't hold I need a bail,I tried a 285 & a 712
Just don't work.
