a local captain sent me this factory Seeker pinhead fishing rod, it looks like someone tried to add some clearcoat to protect the blank but did an ugly job (judge for yourselves after checking the pics), also, the rod comes with deckhand grips from the factory, the owner wanted to add a reelseat so, I had to take all the OG grip and install a new one as well as new reelseat, so, practially I peeled everything out from the the rod to leave only the blank, basically this is a brand new custom rod  ::) , just one order from the owner, since this was a grift to him from a loved friend he asked me if I could leave the Original Seeker logo and the pinhead boy logo on the rod so, he can still see it as the gift from his friend? I have no problem with that I said.
well, time for the pics

Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.

Alex, your workmanship is top-notch, but your craftsmanship is amazing: artistic really. Causes me to pause, stare, and really take in all the fine details. Thanks for sharing.

Two rules on the boat
1. Fish where the fish are
2. See rule #1

Labor of love. It's easier to build from a clean slate than to renew an old canvas, and here you did both. Looks great.

I still can say, I like to help guys that cant afford a new custom rod to have a customized factory rod made on their color selection, logos, name, etc and see their happy faces when they finally have them with them.

The seeker pinheads were modeled after the old trulines, 7x, tnt,lm9, D8 and so on. It was a no frills line but that green glass was very popular. Wasn't long before the green glass ran out and was no longer available so they became almost collector items here in so cal.

Nice work, Alex! I like that green chartreuse color on the s-glass. I am curious how you fixed the finish. I have an old Graphite USA rod that I need to redo.

Several years ago (I could not find the link) Alex posted that he had a sturdy, notched cardboard box and he was going to attempt a rod repair.  After several posts chronicling his progress, Alex took on more complex rod building with his cardboard box.  I don't remember who, but one member (might have been Brian Young) sent Alex an electric wrapper.  The rest is history.  If you follow Alex's posts you will see some of the best custom rods in existence. Congratulations Alex, you have come a long way from the cardboard box.  I am glad someone woke up your talent.  :al   Dominick

with light sanding with a 2000 sand paper and lite thread finish,  since 90% of the time I work on saltwater rods for panga use (which a very rough enviroment for fishing rods) I use the same epoxy for thread wrapping to use it as finish for the blank, just try to add a very thin coat and it will work, I dont recommend this way for graphite light casting rods because it will add extra weight to the blank, there are other products to apply as finish for blanks but for the way the fishing rods are managed, used and mistreated in Panga boats, thread finish work good as blank finish

thank you amigo Domenico, sometimes I recall those days when I was seeking for help in this forum on how to install a guide on a fishing rod    https://alantani.com/index.php/topic,17977.0.html

you're correct, that fishing guide was repaired using a cardboard box, few days later I modified a tool box made of wood to be used as my wrapping station.    https://alantani.com/index.php/topic,18922.0.html
and I used that DIY wrapping station for YEARS !! many repairs and custom rods were made from that DIY wrapping station.
on 2019 our newell expert Dwight (newellnut) sent me a PacBay power wrapper, I have been used that power wrapper since that day.    https://alantani.com/index.php/topic,29711.0.html

I cannot say other than thanks for the guys that helped me all this time (you know who you guys are),I do my part helping guys mostly local guys and captains that always wanted a custom rod but cant afford to have one or guys that need their fishing rod repaired but dont have money to repair it.

its 10 years since that day I was asking for help
