Looking for a little knowledge about time frames of logos.

I have a 7' Shakespeare Wonder Rod with the yellow "S" in a field of black.  The rod Is a wood butt and cork for grip conventional.

I had previously dated that logo style to the late 60's- early 70's.

Today I saw the same logo on a rod at sleazebay that has a date code of EAA that would put it at 1960 manufacture.

Does anyone have the straight dope on the logo eras?

I don't think Shakespeare date codes lie; October, 1060.  How did you date it the first time?

Trying to nail down time frames for the logos, ...as the rod I'm looking at doesn't have any of the date code left readable,....nor the model number.

Yellow S in the black field.

Yeah, I know how the date code works, but what is your reference for the progression/evolution of the logo over time?

I'll share what info I have.....not sure if it's any help? I have 4 Wonderods here, 2 of which have all info worn off, and 2 of which still have partial date codes.

This one appears to read "DG-", and you can see the logo so this is a mid-70s one.

This one appears to read "E--" The 2nd letter could be either B E or F. I have a few of the Shakespeare Tackle Guides from the '60s and Model #110 appears in the '69 guide.

My assortment of guides ranges from '62-'81 but I don't have all of the years. The problem with the guides is that the rods are pictured with the logo turned away from view so it's very difficult to see exactly what they look like.

This won't be of help to you, but I thought I'd add my 2cents for future Wonderod date researchers.

And two dated Wonderods I have:

I'm gonna call my 7' rod an SS-130. I really like this blank.
I rewrapped it a few yrs ago with repurposed cheap guides.

I also have an SS-176 7' that I rewrapped with vintage Fujis and a NOS varmac seat.

I have a 6' standard taper that I can only guess as to the year.
It is something like a PB-B110,...but it originally had a maroon handle with the vertical screw lock and a white blank.  I'm thinking maybe '59.  That one I also rewrapped with cheapos.

I may have a 5.5' (IIRC) solid glass white blank shakes but the handle doesn't look like any I've seen.

Did anyone look at the sleazebay links to see the one rod that the date code doesn't seem right?

Thanks for the responses.
