Jon Boat Mod

After the PM to CI_Seawolf about his boat I wanted to share my Jon boat mod from 15 years ago. I have caught hundreds of fish in this boat before the mod,so I figured I might as well. Some things have changed such as the seats .I loaned it to my son-in-law for 4 years & he had to replace them. My oldest grandson(11) has great memories fishing in this boat & wants to get it back on the water. Currently the Evinrude 9.9 will not start ,but I put a new 15hp carb on it, my next project to do this fall.

I thought it out & made sketches, plus many visits to Tinboats.net for ideas ,but there are things I would change if I decide to do over. I will list what I would do over beside the features

My friend can weld anything & made the trolling motor deck out of 1/4" aluminum diamond plate. I painted it with gray "Tuffcoat".I routed all the wires through flexible conduit "shoegooed" in the side channel of the hull. After the maiden voyage I saw the need for the driver seat to be offset, so I added a light
gray SliderG5 seat mount. They weren't $250 at that time ,but I think a must have for a tiller steer motor.

Features:

1-45# thrust remote control Trolling motor with quick mount(mount TM receptable on front of deck, angle quick mount more centered).

2-Fish Finder(Should be more aft near the driver)

3-Battery hatch with 60A circuit breaker mounted on battery box.

4-On board Charger

5-12VDC jacks for spot light, LED fishing lights or portable bilge pump(I rigged up with 12VDC plug)

PS: This is the 1st boat I ever fell out of & it was on land...

I didn't know you could drink enough Ultras to fall out of a boat in the yard. I do know you can drink enough Natty's to fall asleep sitting in one in the yard and get a picture taken by your wife.

Thor,surprisingly no alcohol was involved I just leaned over too far
Then I needed one thankfully my wife didnt take photos ,I got a big bruise from the landing.though.

Gobi my idea for storage welding buddie's know-how.aluminum piano hinge for the door.I fabricated the
Handle lock with a garage door handle & scrap aluminum for the inner latch.
