helical gears meshes better, hence more efficient, and less noise too. my 2 cents

i think that is the reason that okuma went with a helical cut gear in their makaira line.

Why is your preference helical over spur?  We have a reason we chose spur but I am interested in learning what you guys think.

If you're able to cut them, I'll take mine Helical cut.

Straight cut gears are weaker than a same size helical cut gear. Helical have more teeth meshing and are quiter.
I've  tried both and like the helical much better.
