Hey guys I Need some help here I'm looking for a reel to put on my deep water fluking rod.I have it narrowed down to the Shimano Tekota 300 and the Abu Garcia Record no.60 never used these reels before so I would like some input on them.I know the gear ratio's are different. Thanks!

I don't know the shimano (so can't judge) but I can call the Abu record my own. I use it on freshwater for large pike. Ussually trolling and casting large jerkbaits (up to 200 gram/6-7 Oz) Caught a large pike with it which was almost 4 ft long)

The reel is a little odd in the sense that the anti reverse bearing is in the spool and that you will need to investigate if it can hold enough line. Note that there is a HC version with higher capacity spool. The HC version is IMHO more a normal version and the normal version is more a low capacity but high distance casting version. The spool has a large axle diameter wich is perforated for low inertia thus enables further casting.

Although i never went extreme with it the reel is a real casting machine and with proper practice you will be able to throw quite a distance. I have the left hand version (which is more common in europe for smaller reels and spinners)

I like the reel and would recommend it when it is serving your intended goals
