James, I've never used the Fierce therefore can't comment. To give the 750ss a fair shot, we'll need to use that Fierce for over 25 years and see if it still looks and works as good as mine ;).
Maybe someone here has used both and can chime in.

Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

James, if you're talking about the 750ss, we have some info here:

The 750SS is the earlier model and it has brass gears. the 7500SS also has brass gears, but the later ones in production came with cast aluminum gears. These are still good, but in my opinion, not as good as  brass. These reels are all good, but the 750SS is a little more durable. The only problem with this reel, you will need a pivot to change the handle from left to right, or vice versa.
Another good upgrade not mentioned above, would be a drag knob with a seal.
Justin was able to bring us some ss dogs and ratchets for this reel, but he couldn't find the proper thickness. You can still use them, but you'll need washers.
I'm working with Lee (Keta), with Justin's approval ;D, he is trying to find the same ss plate thickness. Lee has already made me some, but they're too thick. I was able to fine tune them and told him if he can't get the same material, I would be ok with the thicker ones.
I also want to mention that if you're after smoothness, go with the a different newer models, if you're looking for a reel that is consistant, able to take lots of abuse and never let you down, the 750SS would be your reel.
Good luck! Sal

The Fierce is nothing more than a Pfleuger Trion provided to Penn by its mother company Pure Fishing.  That said you dont see to many poor reviews about Pfleugers spinning reels but they are targeted to the beginning fisherman.  They are simple with a low parts count compared to many reels but it did begin its life as a freshwater design.

James, I like the 750ss too. I will say though if anyone has changed the gears in the last few years you may find the newer gears inside. If so you may not need a pivot. Scott Bait and tackle has some info on the changes over the years. https://www.mysticparts.com/Repair/SS750and850gear.aspx  Bob
