thinking of dog a double dog on my penn delmars.. do yall think its worth it or not

G'day James,
First cab off the rank would have to be greased HT-100s.
If that's already done, a one-piece S/S spool comes next (the early ones were plastic).
Once that's done, it'll be most comfortable at around 6-8lbs of drag.
On that basis, the drag pressures don't warrant double dogs.
However, as an exercise (and, potentially, practice for a 4/0. 6/0 etc), sure ;)
Good luck, Justin

Would be good if you had alternating dogs for less handle backlash, then I'd say yes.
:D I talk with every part I send out and each reel I repair so that they perform at the top of their game. :D

I think that double dog is worthwhile for larger reels (Senator 4/0,Mariner 349,Long Beach 68,etc)

I think the simple answer is why not. It is available and easy, so may as well. The only negative I could see is that their aren't a lot of them around and you have to modify a side plate.

well iv done everything i can to them. i have 2 and one that im building. but figuer it would be a cool up grade. plus as yall said practice for doing it on a 4/0 or 6/0

Go for it. Those side plates are no longer available so take care. The brown 85 plates fit and are still available although scarce over here where all old Penn parts are becoming expensive re attached link!

If you take your time and do not get in a hurry you should have no problem doing it properly and without incident.I started with some old broken sideplates you can usually get from others for free if you ask plus shipping of course.
