Hello guys, firstly only new to the forum  and a big hi :)
I  like my non levelwind penn 525 and just recently entered the world of levelwinds with the omoto 7000 csm.
One thing that  is concerning me is  without any load on the reel if I wind it forward  then suddenly stop instead of going into anti reverse the spool  continues on a bit making a ratchety sound.
it sometimes will almost do a full turn   making this noise.
Under load it seems fine, the reel casts well ,feels smooth but I"m none to keen on it doing this,I"m worried its  not normal, but have been told otherwise.
Can it be minimalised ?
I have had it apart  and back together again a few times but it still does it.Any help very much appreciated!
Thanks

the spool continuing a bit is normal because there is no load but the noise not sure because i'm not familiar with this reel. if it has an anti-reverse dog then maybe it's this noise or sound you're hearing. hope this helps, tight lines!

btw welcome to Mr. Tani's neighborhood...

yes, that is normal.  you are allowing the spool to spin in the retrieve direction while in gear.  it won't do that with a fish on.   ;D

Thanks ,from my understanding the same thing happens with the abu 7000 syncros , its to do with the profile of the pinion gear.
It doesnt feel great and give the world of confidence  with it doing this but I guess I"ll have to live with it.
Otherwise it casts great and since i took it apart looking for a prob, completely  cleaned and relubed everything and now its smoother than when new, so maybe me  getting concerned over it was a blessing!
Cheers :)

you're not the first person i've heard voice those same concerns.  a charter captain said the same thing about some reels i serviced for him.  i think he noticed because it was the first time the spools spun well enough to click like that!

G"day Alan, thank you kindly for  your and all the other guys replies :) What I did with this reel is having heard its similar to the ABU syncro, found and followed this thread

The reel is spot on almost to a T as this ABU internally with maybe some improvements, the comments about the pinion gear are  excactly what  i experienced, and now  i must admit am very impressed with the reel, casts a dream smooth as silk, good line and drag capacity , it comes standard with carbon fibre washers and a pretty gutsy main gear, its got no choice but put through its paces on some of the great Australian sportfish  that frequent the waters around where i live.
Cheers :)
