That looks like the same rigging we use for salmon.

I could have sworn that Wallace has some newer, pretty reels...but he always goes back to his tried and trues.

I think many of us are a bit like that ;) ;D
Great work Wallace - well done.
Looks like proper sportsfishing catching mahai-mahi on light tackle like that.
Thanks for sharing.

Yes I've seen them do that and end up hooked on a deep diving Yo Zuri plug-quite the job to unhook one!

when i was in nz i went on a charter boat
and a maori deliberately caught a mutton bird and
wrung its  neck. tied on a piece of fishing line
to bird and boat and threw it back over.
to keep the rest of them away.
when the first fish was caught it was
released alive to please the fish god.
go figure ???

went out thursday,36 miles wide,flat seas,no wind.
100,s of dorado everywhere, small.pic is of skipper karl
1st cast with brand new andros.75cm.they were all about this size.
caught a feed then moved on.
office workers turned up,in their big boats,
roaring up and down trolling, catching nil.
we got there at daylight and surprise!
divers with their spear guns were shooting plenty
its 200m deep with plenty of sharks.
went again last night, just local,10 minutes from jetty
snapper,tailor(bluefish)etc;perfect night.

Congratulations Wallace.  That size is good eating.  Dominick
Leave the gun.  Take the cannolis.

There are two things I don't like about fishing.  Getting up early in the morning and boats.  The rest of it is fun.
