Daiwa Alphas Type R

I have a Alphas  and I have noticed it has a bit of end float in the main shaft approx. about 1/8 inch and I have noticed a noise on the rewind when using a casting plug  for practice in the back yard ,is this normal for them to have this backlash or does it need to be investigated further?
