very nice.. does this affect your distance?

What the point of maggin a reel is to help with more control over the spool. If magged correctly and adjusted to accomodate for line and lure weight, than it can help improve casting and "professional over runs". To much magnetic force and you will lose distance.

I have magged several reels including avets, daiwa sealines, shimanos and penns.  Works well.
my suggestions, get stainless steel washers ... reg washers will rust soon.  the magnets will
also rust, so I suggest coating them with epoxy.  magnets come in variety of thickness and diameters,
so choose accordingly  .... some of the reels don't have much space between the sideplates and spool.

Maybe this is an obvious question....can the magnetic field be felt on the outside of the plate?  Will a piece of metal stick to the outside?  Could be an easy way to tell if a reel has been magged while shopping at a flea market and the seller doesnt know what he's sellin....
It may not be very productive,
but it's sure going to be interesting!
