An aluminum spool is always nice. You can even static-mag it if you intend to do some casting with it.

i'd go with the drag washers and a good scrubbing.  jigmaster power handles are nice.  a stainless steel gear sleeve is probably overkill for this reel.  please let us know if you have any problems.  thanks!  alan
