The fish will usually tell you what to do, can't crank that star all the way and hope for the best, you're at the driver seat.
I caught this one 2 miles out with my Jigmaster, 25 lbs. mono and 10lbs. of drag. This was right before we started making upgrades with all our goodies here., appr. 3 years ago.
Forget about all the reasons why something may not work. You only need to find one good reason why it will.

Nice tipper! I am a fan of crazy drags whether they're neccesary or not, when i get a strike, I pretty much just lock the reel down and hold on. If the fish pulls line, it pulls line. If it doesn't, I reel it in. Not the best techinique for sure, but its fun, lol.
