Yikes! 249 Quid!
I Have just the hook. A 14/0 Gama.
I got these from a friend, and the price was a few dollars each.
This is the biggest hook I fish with.

Hey D,
The nice part about using a hook like that is if you get your truck stuck in the sand you can hook it to something and pull the truck out.  Wow! You guys use some immense tackle for those toothy critters.
I saw those guys on Nat Geo catching those great whites for research a couple years back with hooks as thick as rebar. Man, your sport ain't cheap... Go big or go home! ;)

Just trying to do it right fellas. I've only been at this a few years.
It gets easier every trip. You learn more and more of what to do and not to do.
John gave me the pleasure of handing his reel off to me on my last trip when he got hooked up.
That 7'6" hammer is my PB so far.
With the gear I have now, a 10 footer should be a piece of cake.
I just wish I had more time to devote to doing this.
Once you catch your first one, there is no looking back. Every other fish you catch, you see as bait.
I have a friend at Everol Italy now.
Life is Good! ;)

Thanks Jon,
Hopefully in about two weeks, I can make that happen.
I talked to Paolo about those bearings.
He said they require no service. He buys them and they will last.
I really like this guy, but He doesn't realize the way we do things here at at.com. ;)
There are seven bearings in this reel and they are all sealed. The press fit type.
I will have to take the plunge and try to remove the shields without damaging the races.
This makes me nervous as hell without replacements.
Its not like I can go to Scott's and buy a replacement Everol bearing for an $1800 reel. ::)

The good news on those bearings is they are likely a common industrial sized bearing, which is easy to find in name brands. If you can post close up pics of the bearings where you can read the writing, I could help you out.

The reel is all buttoned up right now Adam. If my stand comes in the next two weeks, I'm going to bolt it up and get it wet. I will tear it apart again afterwards.

Daron,

I believe Alan still has some delron large bearing packer adaptors available.  These would alliw you to fully pack the beari gs without removing the shields.  If you are not comfortable removing the bearings from the reel, there is another trick available, that I have used with some sucess.  For bearings that are press fit, you can force grease into the center hole with a grease gun, and it will pack the bearing and ooz back out through the shields.   Also, you shouldn'T have any trouble finding replacement bearings if needed.
Hope springs eternal
