Accurate reel

I am trying to put the lever drag back on the reel.  I have have put the retaining clip to secure it to the body when I place the remaining pieces into the drag lever I cannot secure it with the E clip as the groove is within the bearing.  I think that retaining clip is cause of the shortness.  Help

You have to push down on the side plate to push the spool axle in further. Go here and look at the Boss E Series Maintenance slide show:
