Thanks Guys,

It's supposed to be summer here, but weather has been atrocious so far. It's a long weekend & there is a 2m swell & 30 knot winds forecast for the west coast. Have put this on my 10-15kg Kilwell Jellytip. It's going to be my "small" popper rod will probably spool it with 24kg braid. Might turn my attention to my 8500SS now. Watch this space....

Glad I'm not the only one who likes red reels!  Built this one last summer for a friend who loves these reels.  "Great minds think alike!"  Did a little grinding to get the sides flat and painted with Duracoat.  I love that Penn power knob.  Can I get those in the States?

They are available in the UK for about $16 and fit both the 7500SS and 8500SS.
I could ship them if necessary.

Those are Cool looking reels, The 750/7500ss is one of my favorites, I fish them all the time.Never seen a red one now I've seen 2.
I just picked a near perfect 750ss up last week. I am currently working on a green 705 That I am converting
to a black & gold 707. (Lefty 706z) I'll post some pics  When the rest of my parts come in.

The reel turned out great MFB. Joe I saw yours on the PFF forum. Red really looks good on both reels! Bob

I've got the curse too, Richie...lefty...my father cut my fishing teeth on Mitchell 301s fishing for Red Fish, Specs and Flounder on the MS Coast.  Here's a 707 I recently restored.  Wish I had a before picture.

That is a nice 707. I was going to make one out of my 702 but it was too nice to chop up, so I put it on ebay to fund some of my many other projects.I recently did this 9500ss with the help of Cone.
Keta stainless dog/ratchet upgrades.Sals posts& redsettas tutorial. Got a spool w/stock drag for mono & a upgraded drag for braid to try vertical jigging will eventually put a different knob on the handle.

Nice to see the Red Baron finished, now for the weather to settle down so you can get a kingie hanging off it.
