I picked up a well used 707 bailess. Unfortunately the emblem is long gone. I know this is a long shot but idoes anyone have one or know if anyone makes replicas?
Thanks
There are a lot more Spinfishers out there than there are emblems to go with them. Its the same with Alcido Microns.

Hey Chris, While you're looking for an emblem try using an old Indian Head penny in it's place, looks really cool. I'll send you one if you want?
Just checked — have a few new sideplates — for greenies — but not for a 707.
Found NOS 700, 704, 710, and 713.
Sorry,
Fred
Thanks guys, I figured this would be a very hard to find piece. I will just be patient
A jewelry mold could be made,,,, ;D
Yep, one will pop up —
Patience, as you said — along with keeping the request active and "out there", will likely succeed.
Best,
Fred
More than likely i will need to buy the side plate with emblem intact. Which is fine by me.

That would be a fun project. There's a guy in Malaysia that casts replica emblems for Alcido Microns.

Are they made out of bronze or brass?
Greenies are made from a circle of Aluminum pressed in a die and copper /bronze colored. "Z"'s are an Aluminum disk pressed in a die and painted with reel model number. Both types are very thin metal.
There was a man in Florida called the "Reel Restorer" who had a generic replacement made for the Penn Spinfishers he restored, but who knows where he sourced them from. I believe he passed on a few years ago.

Chris
Not mine, he wants $20 for it.....
Chris,
My Bad, one of the crew here pointed out this is for a Z not greenie, however the seller seems to have other medallions......
I have five green spinfishers and none of them have a medallion. Some I lost myself way back when and some were bought more recently without one. A reel that is well-used is much less likely to have one. I wonder if the problem is not so much about being knocked around, but some sort of oxidation of the adhesive from exposure to the elements.
To Tony from Penn, do you guys still have the die those things were stamped with?
Out of curiosity, what are they worth? Asking twenty bucks for a 'Z' series medallion sounds crazy.

I have seen 706 for $15 to $20,,,,,,but that was 2years back,,,,,,, ;D
The old glue used to hold the emblems on my green spinfishers had definitely degraded and lost its adhesiveness. They more or less fell off during cleaning or popped off when I slightly pried them; fortunately I didn't lose any. I cleaned off the remnants of the old glue with a dental pick and reattached them with epoxy. Those emblems are very delicate.
One will likely pop up on ebay, or somewhere on here pretty soon.
If not, and it were mine —
I would take a 704 badge to a jeweler or trophy shop. Then have them change the numeral 4 to a number 7. Not too hard. Just flatten out the 4 with a small punch + a watchmakers or jewelers anvil — smooth it so the 4 was never there. Then delicately make a 7 to match the existing 7 — from the back side with tiny jewelers tools. They have to tools, expertise, and skills to do this so that it would be a perfect match.
That is an expensive and rare reel. It deserves a properly badged sideplate.
Best,
Fred

I lied. One of them has a medallion. Seventy-five bucks takes the 716 medallion with free shipping. For a hundred I'll include the reel. :) :)

Steve,
Are you going to epoxy that emblem in now before it's too late??😆

No, I'm going to pry it off and sell it on ebay. ;)

The one NOS 710 Greenie side plate I have, had the emblem fall off when I dropped it onto the floor. They seemed to have been glued on with some type of rubber cement. I use Wellwood contact cement to reattach they, both the greenie's and the lasted "Z's".

Even better yet!!! 👍🏼🧐😀
I think you're on the right track, Steve !
I did see online where this man was making them out of plastic or something,,,,,it like your on to something,,,,,,, ;D
Micro-mark carries the casting supplies but they do not seem to be cost effective.
A 3D printer could also be used to reproduce the emblem if anybody has access to a 3D printer. Shapeways can also reproduce it in plastic or various metals via 3D printing if one has no access to a 3D printer however I do not know what the cost would be.
Both methods are used by Model Railroaders.
Our kid has 3D printers. But, the medallion is different on every model so each one would have to be scanned and digitized. Setting up the cam program to feed into the printer and all that stuff is the hard and tedious part. I doubt that there would be enough demand to justify it.
The time required for a one-off casting would be a fraction of the time required for a one-off 3D printing.

After 9 mouths I got a 707 it's on its way,,,, :D I'm hoping I can reproduce the emblem,,,,, ;) but let's see what happens,,,,, ;D
I saw that Benni that was a great buy!
My friend who's a jeweler said it might be possible,,,, ;) but this emblem is stamped super thin and bronze plated,,,,,he might be able to make a mold and do it out of stright bronze,,,,,this might work if it does how many people out there wants one,,,,,,, ;D
I'll take a couple just to keep him at it. No telling where it could lead.

I forgot all about this. I sold the reel i needed this for, but im definitely still in for one.
Nice! I'd order one except I don't have a 707 in my stash of greenies.
Just got the first 1,,,,,, ;) they are a hair smaller because of the mold process,,,, :D but they look great,,,,,if any body wants 1 let me know he is working on them now $25 each or I will just put them on ebay,,,,,,,, ;D
That looks great Benni, if you put them on eBay, price them right.😉
Sal
These look great. If they become popular I would suggest possibly doing some with no number at all because it would be more versatile and people would know that it's a re-production. Don't take this wrong I think these reproductions are superior to the factory original medallions but a collector could know at a glance that it's not original (if they didn't have model no.s).
